[XAT/TISS/ACIO/AO - GK] National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries in India

In order to protect the number and variety of Plants and Animals we identify the areas with high Biodiversity and isolate it from human activities by establishing National Parks,Sanctuaries and Bio-Reserves.

This is In-situ method of Biodiversity conservation.

What's the difference between a National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary ?

Human activities are too much restricted in a National park whereas in a Sanctuary some activities are allowed for e.g. grazing, wood collection etc.

Now Let us look region-wise at different National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries in India.

Before you start I recommend you all to see the political map of India once so that mind-mapping could be easy for you. Refer : http://www.mapsofindia.com/maps/schoolchildrens/political.jpg

Central and Eastern Region:

Look at the image below :

Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand :

In Hindu Mythology, Milk is something which differentiates between the philosophy of Shiva and Vishnu. Shiva is usually offered unchurned milk(कच्चा दूध ) in a hindu temple whereas Krishna [Visnu] likes Butter,Cream etc which clearly shows the involvement of Krishna in worldly affairs whereas detachment of Shiva and his indifference. [Serious one]

Lakhimpur(Near Lucknow) is a place between Mathura , city of Krishna and Varanasi, city of Shiva.

Dudhwa(दूध ) National Park is situated over there  reminding us of difference of approach between Shiva and Vishnu.

Again look at Shiva sitting in Varanasi having the moon[Chandra]on his head and this city shines brilliantly under his moon light[Prabha].

=> Chandraprabha Wildlife Sanctuary is in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

Jim Corbett National Park :   The hills where Tiger is standing can be related to Uttarakhand and ofcourse there is a car full people of people used as a bait to lure the Tiger into the trap.

=> Car + Bait = Corbett is in Uttarakhand.

Jharkhand,WestBengal,Sikkim and Assam :

Jharkhand contains Jhar(Bushes in Hindi) thus it is very easy to relate it to Hazari(a thousand)
Bag(gardens).

Recetly during an event Amitabh Bachchan (Pa) and Dalai (Lama) went to Jharkhand to spread awareness regarding Forest Conservation in HazariBagh itself.

=> Pa+Lama+u (Palamu Tiger Reserve) is also in Jharkhand.

Adjacent to Hazaribagh I have shown Sunder(Beautiful')ban(Jungle) in WestBengal [ Look at Aamir saying in bangla 'Khub Shundor'.

Kanchendzonga National Park is in Sikkim(Adjacent to Nepal : Image explains it all)

Manas National Park :Manas means Thinking,Imagining etc thus look at the Brain in action in Assam

Kazi-ranga[रंगा ] National Park: Look at the colored Rhinoceros standing in Assam.

Southern and Central region :

Observe the image given below:

बकर चालू : I have segregated the names in different parts and analysed them separately to find key words which we can easily relate to.

Note: I won't be giving an explanation for all of them.Just look at the image and the state and I am sure your mind will grasp it very easily.

For e.g. छिलका (Chilka Wildlife Santuary) in Odisha, Koyna Mitra [Koyna Wildlife Santuary] in Maharashtra, Kanha National Park in Madhya Pradesh.

Periyar National Park : It is in Kerela. We all know that career of Actor Riya Sen is as doomed in bollywood as career of [Ofcourse You-Know-Who] in Politics. But unlike [ You-Know-Who], she understood the reality and decided to work in Malayalam movies where she can get a good pay.

Thus Pay Riya could be related to Periyar. [ I know बुरा पीजे है पर याद रहेगा ]

Mudumalai[मलाई ] Sanctuary: रसमलाई (Rasmalai) is a famous sweet dish in North India. But when  a North Indian works in Chennai(Tamil Nadu) and doesn't finds it over there and gets to eat  Kala-Kaddu [Chimerical (कल्पनातीत )Term] काला कददू instead he feels like he is in a forest itself.

[ I love Idli-Dosa-Uttapam but you are bound to feel bad when you don't get Rasmalai.]

Thus Mudumalai and Kalakkadu Sanctuaries both are in Tamil Nadu.[look at the image]

Bandipur National Park: I hope you all remember Veerapan, sandalwood smuggler, who kidnapped the famous Kannada movie-star Rajkumar and kept him imprisoned which means (बंदी )
in Hindi.

Thus, Bandipur National Park can be easily related to Karnataka.

Kolleru Bird Sanctuary: [In what could be music to the ears of the Chandrababu Naidu government, a study has concluded that the Chintalapudi area in the Godavari valley contains more than 3,000 million tonnes of coal reserves. It can be used to give boost to power and allied sectors in a state which has just been divided.] - News Report

Thsu Koll(Coal )-eru Bird Sanctuary =  Andhra Pradesh [Again Image is more important than Explanation]

Look at the image and you can see Kanha with his maiya Yashoda and a Dam (Bandh in hindi) in Madhya Pradesh which implies Bandhavgarh and Kanha National Parks could be easily related to MP.

Northern and Western Region :

Look at the image below :

Gujrat : The Lion from Gujrat [Ofcourse You-Know-Who] roared and whole country saw the fall of
then incumbent Government.[सरकार गिर गई ] in the general elections of 2014.

Also, Gujrati people are so sharp that the only abode for an Ass(गधा) in Gujrat is Rann of Kutch.

=> Gir Forest National Park and Wild Ass Santuary are in Gujrat.

Rajasthan : Rana Pratap was so brave that it was considered a big Risk to attack his Kingdom[Rajasthan].

Now relate Rana to Ranthambore National Park and Risk to Sariska Tiger Reserve.

Bharat from Ramayana can be related to Bharat Bird Santuary [a.k.a Keoladeo National Park]

Dachigam National Park : It is located 22 Kms from Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. It was really tough one but anyhow I cooked a story.

Chchoti Magar Moti Batein:

Feel free to comment below the names along with their locations of the ones which I have missed and you feel them to be important for exams.

In my next post I will give less explanations as by then you will be more familiar with my Style/Images .

All the best and never forget to be awesome :)
